elvendoll: (sitting)
this morning, i'd love to go back to my shower almost as much as i'd love to go back to bed; the short hair is definitely making me appreciate my time under hot water.
and i'm getting more used to it, and still debating the merits of getting it recut vs. growing it out now.

yesterday was a weird workday. i came in late, never took a lunch, had some thought-provoking aim conversations and did more busywork then not.
from here, i went home, and decided on the drive that there's no way i'm up to taking the T to see the matrix - it was cold and rainy, and i had a sore throat earlier in the day, so getting soaked before going to sit in an under-heated theater would likely result in a cold. plans were rearranged, [livejournal.com profile] newbodvie came by my house as i was finishing dinner, we picked up [livejournal.com profile] sol3 and took the long way to the theater - but what matters is that we got there, and almost on time...
unfortunately, this still landed us in the first row of the theater, but worse things happen. i thought revolutions deserved all of its bad reviews, but that it was still fun, and seeing it in a packed theater was a good experience.

Tuesday night was rough.
class itself was okay. we watched modern times, which i'd never seen all the way through. of course, i still haven't, as i nodded off somewhere in the middle and came back to about three quarters of the way through. after that was about 40 minutes of painfully drawn discussion - which wasn't that bad, as all class discussions tend to suck due to the professor's inability to lead the class well, and this time, there wasn't two and a half hours of it.
after class is when things got messy.
i got home and the heat wasn't working. i sat down and vegged a bit under the warmth of the laptop, and then went down to the basement to add water to the boiler, which typically makes it work again. only this time, it wasn't working.
i went back upstairs, called the landlady, woke her up, and was told she'd call the plumber in the morning.
i sat back down and debated being a wuss and asking [livejournal.com profile] sol3 if i could stay with him.
i then heard heater-like clicks coming from the kitchen, and rushed to the heater to check if it is actually coming on. it wasn't - and i realized the noise is coming from the oven... which was on, set to somewhere around 100 degrees, and spewing out a bit too much gas, which i could suddenly smell.
i turned it off and asked [livejournal.com profile] sol3 if i could spend the night - a friend recently got carbon monoxide poisoning from a leaking stove, and smelling gas was flipping me out a bit.
a bit after that, i decided to go back to the basement one last time, to see if maybe turning the oven off helped... it didn't, but as i was looking around, i noticed something else going in the back of the basement - to see what i now know to be our water heater... with a metal bit sticking into an opening and being in the flame, and wires around the other part of the metal bit.
this really flipped me out. after brief debate about what to do, i called the landlady, woke her up again, told her what i saw and quickened my packing - i felt like the house could blow at any minute.
i ran into the landlady on the street, and showed her the problem. the water heater wasn't actively on, and she got the metal bit out of the hole - turns out it was next to wiring, but not attached to it, so there wasn't any danger. still, i was a bit shaken up.
when i got to [livejournal.com profile] sol3's, he was in the process of rearranging his room, which pushed my bedtime back to past 3am... but, i did some workwork while waiting, and slept in a bit.

tonight should be a busy night, and i'm kinda looking forward to yoga. i don't find it relaxing just yet, because i'm still awkward and self conscious about it, but my muscles feel like they can use a workout. its also a little amazing to feel muscles - i've gone to yoga something like 5 times over the past two months, and it feels like this is the most muscle mass i've ever had.
actually, i forgot to mention this here... at the halloween party, i was able to wear a glow in the dark necklace around my waist. that was something i'd see if i could do from 16 to 22 or 23, and then stopped because they'd no longer fit. now, they fit again, which makes me happy, as it means i'm getting something done to stay in the same shape.
