Jan. 3rd, 2006 10:22 amThere's some consencus: 2005 is fired.
2006, on the other hand, has gotten off to a decent start.
I welcomed in the new year surrounded by good people, spent a few hours that night sleeping on a hammock in the giant sleeping bag, got great morning cuddles and a yummy brunch (after someone was kind enough to trade plates with me, as I didn't especially like what I'd ordered). I got to snuggle and watch one of my favorite movies in the afternoon, and spent the evening with
kittypie, my roommate p. and a bunch of their friends. The evening included being introduced to a pretty spiffy burger joint, seeing my house full of people and trying out newly-infused cheap vodka.
Yesterday was a great day off.
sol3 woke me up in the best way possible, and after he went off to work, I got up and spent most of the morning and afternoon between putzing and cleaning up - and both the house and my room no longer look like eyesores.
I had skimped out on lunch, but made a very filling dinner around 6. The main course was basmati rice with portabellas, corn and peas, and I managed to not overcook the mushrooms and was pleased to find out that flaxseed oil went really well into it, making the meal extra healthy. It's almost amusing that the mushrooms came out as well as they did, as it was an exercise in handicapped cooking - only one of our burners can regulate the temperature well, the others will go as hot as they can even on 'low' and cooking on them involves turning them on and off a lot.
I then grabbed the mini sewing machine
sol3 got me and spent some time learning it and trying it out while watching TV. After that, I went to bed early, reading the incredible lightness of being for a while. I would've read more of it if it didn't keep making me cry.
This morning, I managed to get up early - still working in getting into the swing of things, but good to start off the work-year on the right foot.
And, I've been saying it a lot out loud, and I'll say it here - it's so great to have my roommate p. back! I'm almost sad I'll be ditching her for most of the month.
