Jul. 10th, 2006 11:23 amBeyond bitching about school, I haven't been updating much.
I spent the pdeudo-long-weekend in Arizona with
sol3, where we visited with his mom, brother and niece. It was a little awkward to be on the living room couch in a house with 3 humans, 4 cats and 2 dogs, but not too bad. The weather didn't cooperate, so
sol3 still hasn't seen Sedona showered in sunlight (though he has seen it showered!), and my laptop faked its death, causing me to be on edge for most of the weekend. Beyond all that, though, it was a pretty good time, and even though the drive was long, it did feel liberating to drive to Arizona on a near-whim.
This weekend was my first relaxing and social time after the evil class. On Friday, I got off the train 30 blocks away from home, and got dinnerstuffs along my way - it felt so liberating to be able to take that time and walk. I did learn, however, that trying to cook a thick salmon filet in the toaster oven isn't the best idea. 40 minutes and some broiler-time later, the salmon was done and the asparagus and potatoes were rather cold : (
Between that and some general slow-going,
sol3 and I didn't make it out of the house till 11, and were on the sleepy side during the party - but I still really enjoyed being out and about.
On Saturday, we lazed in bed for a glorious amount of time; we then took a stroll to the beach and back before he took off. I did a lousy job of picking up
cuthalion, and we made it to the breakfast all day party just in time to have some yummy crepes. It was pretty amusing to be out here and have conversations about boston-area restaurants.
After some sushi,
sol3 and I then went to see the Legendary Pink Dots. It's hard for me not to attribute most of my issues with the show to the venue - but it just lacked a certain oomph.
Yesterday, I dragged
sol3 out to brunch in the castro, and then came back here for some loafing, some house-cleaning, some laundry and some homework. I then went to bed early and still managed to totally oversleep this morning.
Today, I pick up some of yesterday's slack and go grocery shopping, because tomorrow, I get to pick up my kid sister at the airport!
I'm really hoping her time here will go well - I feel like I'm not all together for it yet, but here's hoping...
