Sep. 18th, 2006 03:18 pmIt looks like
sol3 and I survived the move!
Huge (huge!) thanks to those that helped - I think we ended up finishing up a good 2 hours before I expected!
Getting stuff to the second floor was definately an adventure, but now all the big pieces that should be up there, are. And the rest of the space is half-covered with bags and boxes.
I ended up working from home today, and it's nice to have some solid time in the house. I think the cat appreciates it, too, as
sol3 said she spent a couple of minute meowing at the window when I went to the store during my lunch break.
The cat managed to impress me in three different ways during the moving process. First was when I'd finished packing up her stuff and brought out her kitty carrier - even though it has a curved top and is a pain in the ass to get on top of, that's exactly what she did! It had the feeling of "these are all my things, and they're not leaving without me!" to it.
Second was that she managed to get out of the carrier on the drive over. She was meowing (normal) and scratching (less normal) for most of the ride, and it didn't even occur to me until after I saw her slither out of the carrier that she couldv've found the zippers and force one of them open.
The third is that she settled into the new place really well - started exploring right away and hasn't hid yet.
And me, I'm the moron cat-parent that left the door open while wandering outside during a work call. Luckily
ged didn't seem too phased by my exclamation when I realized what I'd done, and she was pretty cooperative about being put back into the house.
One weird thing about the moving is what little routine I had is totally shot. What do I do with myself now? ...other then unpack, that is...
