Maybe you can just emphasize the financial aspect of it... that the stress of not having any money is affecting your schoolwork, and you'd be much better off with your other classes if you dropped one and got a part-time job... especially since you feel that they've given you enough money.
Either that, or just be honest and say that this one class turned out to be way more than you thought you could handle when you first signed up for it.
Just be sure to emphasize that this in no way means that you're dropping out totally, or that you're not going to finish. Just that myabe you're going about 10 MPH faster than you can handle. You'll get there, though.
