...because i feel like i did everything that i wanted to, saw a lot of people and places, and generally had a good time.
but, i think part of what made the weekend what it was is that i have plans to be out of town for the next four weekends - which i also like, its just a matter of the fact that i won't have more weekends like this one for about a month.

the weekend must've started on Friday from how bouncy i was starting early in the morning. lunch with [livejournal.com profile] deirdre and [livejournal.com profile] zerokey was good, and then [livejournal.com profile] zerokey braved the hot sun to install my new stereo (big big thanks to him and [livejournal.com profile] sol3 - i don't have much of an ear for the quality of the sound of music, but even i can hear the difference, and i can't wait to play mp3 discs), and both were there for me as my mood took a little slide.

i'd cancelled my dinner plans, came home, and instead of eating, laid down and lamented not having enough time to nap. got up, had chocolate milk, putzed around online and made Sunday plans, and then [livejournal.com profile] goat showed up to head off to [livejournal.com profile] halo's place for the clothing swap.
i ended up bringing a few tops that i just don't wear, and coming back with a sweater i will hopefully wear.
after that was a trip home to change into club clothes and pre-fill with some alcohol, to make the evening's adventure cheaper.

when we first got to the club, it was rather empty and left me wandering in circles, trying to find a place to stop and failing. after i started getting into the groove, i saw [livejournal.com profile] maighread and her SB walk in, and was presented with a really awesome (and incredibly surprising and appreciated) bday present - i can't thank them enough!
with their company, and some eye candy on the techno-room dancefloor, the evening definitely picked up and didn't settle down until 4am, when the two left my house to head home - it was definitely a really good night.

Saturday was walden pond day, and i snapped into awakeness around 8:30am, panicking that i hadn't set my alarm clock. only i had, but the adrenaline rush had me up anyways.
Saturday was the day of forgetting anything that wasn't physically attached to me. i forgot my hoodie (with wallet) at home, which left me moneyless and warm-top-less, and my book on the way to walden, and my cellphone in [livejournal.com profile] zerokey's car afterwards.
at the pond... we picked the wrong side of the pond.
there wasn't much "beach" to the spot we picked, a lot of shade and the ground was damp enough to soak our towels.
overall, i still have a good and relaxing time, and really liked being able to get a swim in.

came home from that to spend time contemplating dinner and shower, stealing pasta salad from [livejournal.com profile] mortis, somehow managing to run a little behind schedule, but finding out a dress that used to make me look weird now fits well again. and, i went to a surprise party and had a very decent time talking to [livejournal.com profile] tobi and [livejournal.com profile] pir.
i ended up getting home dead tired, and had to stop chatting to [livejournal.com profile] sol3 early because i was starting to nod off : (

yesterday was a great day.
woke up early, picked up cellphone, and after minor communication delays, headed off to NH to go to purgatory falls with [livejournal.com profile] bugmanhai, [livejournal.com profile] iarwain and a few other people - the trip was just what i needed.
the day was super warm and i was able to take a few dips in the really cold water, i went along for a walk upstream through the water, which gave me bleeding and twitching toes, but was very worth it anyways, and a bunch of time laying down, enjoying nature and being amused at the conversation around me (even if i didn't join in that much). k. never ceases to amaze me - he had perfect (and vegetarian) snack food with him and was very kind about sharing it.

i feel a little bad about sparking the mass departure from the falls, but i'd assumed we wouldn't be there past 5pm, and didn't ask about a ride back into town or take my car to the falls... unfortunately and fortunately, i had plans to see my grandma's cousin, who, through a series of fubar's, ended up taking me to friendly's. the service there was beyond horrible and the food was mediocre, but it was good to spend time with her, and considering she's in a fairly yucky fight with her husband, she prolly needed some time out of the house.
after dinner, i shot over to [livejournal.com profile] maighread and her SB's new, spacious and pretty apartment and we went for a walk.
and after that, i wen to go see [livejournal.com profile] sol3 and spent some good time catching up with him.

so yeah, really good weekend. an ideal weekend would've also included not-out-of-town-[livejournal.com profile] sol3, not forgetting shit all day Saturday and reading, but this is the closest i've come to an ideal weekend in a long time. yay

now, i've been in a pond/lake and a stream/river - i have yet to dip into the ocean. this needs to be changed.

ooooh

we'll have to run down to scituate and splash into the ocean, unless of course you'd like to sample the wonderful beaches of Southie. And by wonderful I mean ghetto.

typically, i go to nantasket - is scituate a better place to go?

...and yeah, i'll pass on the beaches of southie...
(which sounds way too similar to a line from the forbidden zone soundtrack, if you get the reference)

Nantasket is a lot of fun, it's got that boardwalk and beachfront entertainment thing going. Scituate beaches don't have any of that, but it tends to be a lot less crowded and a bit more laid back. Then again this preference might have been born out of laziness, and trying to justify driving 30 minutes to nantasket vs. walking 2 minutes to the beach :)
