...after i told my mom that i have to arrange for little girl to be fed over the weekend, my mom told me i should bring her with me to NJ...

on the one hand, she's a pretty laid back cat, and she's been a bit lonely already....
on the other, i'm nervous about shaking her world that much...

what would you recommend?

I would arrange for someone who likes cats to spend some cat time with the cat and also feed cat food to the cat. cat cat cat!

she's not a lap-kitty - she likes spending time in the vicinity of people, and prefers not to interact for more then 5 minutes at a time, if not less...

its also that she likes to go outside, and that couldn't happen if someone was coming by to feed her once a day...

Generally speaking I find that cats need a little while to get used to new surroundings - I wouldn't do it for a weekend. A week, perhaps.

If the ride won't freak her out, I'd say take her. Mim's a mellow girl, and I've taken her to my parents' house for an entire day at a time. (For Christmas, and an anticipated storm, so they were long days.) And they've got a dog, too. Just keep her in one room for a while until she gets her bearings. (Most pet stores around here carry disposable litter box kits, too.)

Man, my cat yowls up a storm in the 10 minutes it takes to drive her to the vet. You may end up with a very vocal ride home...food for thought.
