can anyone offer a place or an idea as where i can store my car for 2 weeks? (that's how long it takes for a car donation to go through, it seems)

How much tax credit are they gonna give you for a donation? You might be able to get some cash if you bring it to a salvage yard.

Considering its a 92 SAAB, I should be able to get a substantial amount; the only way i could get more would be to see off parts from the front (undamaged) side of the car piece by piece, which is too much hassle.

Now i am getting second thoughts though - makes me wonder if dan would want it as a parts car for his car (and whether i could find a way to get in touch with him).

My girlfriend donated her car and got a nice tax credit. I don't know about where you live, but here in Chicago we just left the poor ol' thing parked on the street and made sure there wasn't any street cleaning to be done by calling the alderman. The car removalists will happily just take it away like thieves in the night, eventually. My two cents. ;)

the problem is that i don't have a resident sticker for where i live, and on-street parking is only for residents. with a guespass, you can leave a car there overnight, but if you don't move it once a day, you get tickets for "storage"...

We have that same system here. Though we can use as many guest passes as we want. As long as a new one is put in the window every day.

Sorry, not trying to be a knowitall. Just trying to help. Good luck. Hope you get a nice new car.

we get one pass to put in the car, and the cops will more often then not ignore the violation of a resident using it, but are pretty strict about the cars being moved - once i got a 'storage' ticket after landing the same spot when i came home from work as the one my car had been in the previous night...

and i do appreciate all well meant suggestions - thank you : )

((and i'm hoping to get a nice new car, too : ) ))
