...i could really get used to this whole long weekend thing : )

it just feels so nice to know that its Sunday, but that i don't have to feel like the weekend is ending : )

and so far this has been a very nice, low key weekend, even if i have not gotten half of what i need done accomplished yet...
Friday night i came home somewhat stressed, as we were due to receive a couch, but i left work later then i thought i would and got stuck in traffic, but it turned out to be all good because i had overestimated just how much would need to be done for the couch to fit into its designated spot, and spud helped me both realize that and accomplish the end goal. so now, there's a very ugly, but very comfy, "roasted pumpkin"* couch in our living room - which will soon also be hidden by a green cover : )
after the delivery was made, i ate some of the dried-fruit-rice my grandma made for me, chilled at the house for a bit, and accepted an invitation from her to go hang out... there ended up being some people there already, and i had a really good time watching moulin rouge and just hanging out : ) i do have to say,t hough, that i am now rather glad i didn't see moulin rouge in the theaters - i had wanted to, but just didn't get the chance to - overall, it wasn't too bad, its more that the way they destroyed some good 80's music was painful for me, and the imagery didn't do enough to compensate for the plot...
yesterday feels almost like a day wasted... i got up around 1pm, and moped about in indecision about breakfast. at around two, i dragged adam with me to go to daniel's bakery, in brighton center, for some yummy bread to go with the havarti cheese i brought back from NJ, which set us back to almost 3. and after breakfast, i still wasn't feeling too well, so i went to lay down for a little bit before going to see if a shower would make me feel better. well, that didn't go as planned - i fell asleep. i woke up around 6:30ish, still feeling rather out of it. i pretty much degrogged until around 7, 7:30ish, and then spent more useful time chatting online and trying to wake up adam.
after adam woke up, we decided that it would be a good idea for me to try out making soup from the mushroom soup mix we'd gotten in brighton. oh boy. i guess i should stick with cooking by improvisation, because i have no clue what the recipe intended, but what came out just tasted very weird. luckily, it was still edible,
so now we're at 8:30, and finishing eating. and between chatting and just being out of it, it still took me till 10pm to get out of the house. so after stopping at an ATM, realizing i didn't have my ID, and heading off to Ryles anyways, we met tobi, scuba and a couple of tobi's friends an hour after we were supposed to.
the jazz at ryles wasn't exactly what i was expecting - my experience with jazz bars was at a bar in NY, i forget its name, but it started with an M, and i think it was on sullivan st., near bleecker, in the village - it was mob-owned, dark, smoky and music that suited the atmosphere (i had also heard a rumor at one point that the guy from blues traveller randomly popped in there and played one night) - at ryles, among other things, we heard a rendition of paint it black, the monkeys song and the pink panther theme - just a little too poppy for my tastes. but, it was a (pretty good) experience anyways, and i am glad i went.
after a stop at IHOP, i got home around 2:30, and decided to just go to bed... to have an unpleasant night of really cold drafts keeping me from sleeping well, and dreams that left me slightly not-at-ease in the morning.
and yeah - morning. i'm up now. not feeling overly awake, but don't want to make the mistake i made yesterday - there's a world of cleaning to do...
