yup, yesterday was a long day.
i was very groggy for a large part of the "day", which meant that i had more energy in the evening, but i need energy during the day, too...

like i do every semester, i left home the day before my first class with the expectation of checking for the actual location of it online instead of grabbing my registration confirmation.
and every semester, i realize all over again that the site doesn't list classroom assignments.
its not a huge deal - the class could've only been in one of two buildings, which are next to each other & have course schedules lying around, its just annoying to be making the same mistake so often.

class was interesting.
i think the part thats taking some adjustment is that the class, anthropology on film is more focussed on anthropology then film. which isn't bad, it just rubbed against expectations i didn't realize i had.
it'll definately strain me.
readings every night, writing assignments every other night, a 5-10 minute presentation (and boy do i find stuff like that intimidating) and a 3-5 page 'research' paper.
the latter shouldn't be bad - just something i'll need to spend the weekend of the 19th doing... its the presentation thats going to get me.
but... to focus... 3 weeks... 3 credits....
must remember to mark the class as pass/fail, although its kind of tempting not to. the professor is pretty cool and if i put myself into it, i should be able to get an A or an A-.

and yeah, my new toy is here : )
he also gave me a fabulous toy for the holidays - i now have a (fully functioning!) dvd player *bounce*
haven't had much of a chance to play with either toy yet, but will hopefully have some time to do that tonight - in theory, i should really run over to target to pick up some stuff for the house after class, and then the few hours i'll have left will be divided between homework and new toys.
and i'm being a good kid & going to wait until this evil class is over before signing up for netflix.

financially, the next couple of months should be interesting....
a bunch of not-so-cheap plans have cropped up in the last week+, and i'm not willing to pass on them. i know i'll be okay, but making things work will take a little juggling and i'm just nervous because i don't have much experience with that.
the good news is, i'm really looking forward to the stuff happening.

and i have a bunch more to say, but don't have the energy to think clearly at the moment.
my first comment after class, though, is that i think cannibal tours should be shown on cross-continental flights so that people get a healthy dose of perspective when travelling elsewhere. i know i needed to see it.
