week in review?
May. 30th, 2003 01:31 pmi'm feeling a bit better then i was yesterday, so its probably a good time to write.
its been a short week...
Tuesday, i woke up early to grab him from the airport, napped with him a little, and then saw him again after work. among other things, we watched the red violin, which, according to him, bravo had sliced up a bit.
Wednesday night i stayed at home, vegged some and futzed online while burning two new car cd's. i would have made more, but i went to play the first one in my ancient boombox, and it was skipping all over the place. out of fear that something was up with the cd's or the burner, i stopped, but then they play just fine in the car, so i need to go back and burn more, as i still have a few scratched up discs that are annoying me too much.
on making mixed cd's - what would go well on a mix with nick cave, leonard cohen and oingo boingo?
last night, i did a bit more vegging, watching tv, reading stuff online, wrote that poem, talked on the phone and then spent some time with him.
tonight? i have no clue what to do tonight. any and all suggestions are welcome.
again, i feel the need to say that my parents rock. i mentioned to them the camping trip
nymphochka attempted to lure me to, and they, without any prompting from me, started calling around to see if any friends of the family were already heading that way. its those little things, when they go out of their way to do something little and sweet, that make me realize how lucky i am to have them.
speaking of them, i ordered my sister's bat mitzvah present yesterday. my mom is going to kill me, as its a rather pricey one, and she thinks the bday present i gave her should be enough. bwa! i want to give her something she will cherish for the rest of her life, and i'm willing to add a bit to my debt to do so.
i'm also really looking forward to seeing abi - she's becoming more talkative/articulate daily, but she talks very softly and doesn't have the attention span to stay on the phone for any significant period of time, so i spend more time hearing her in the background while talking to my mom then actually talking to her.
and my boss rocks, too...
i came in yesterday to find this on my chair; he wants me to read it so we can talk about it : )
so much for picking something deeper for my next book, but i'm also hoping to read most, if not all, of it over the weekend.
on another note, the daughter in law of my mom's piano teacher is having a gallery showing.
my parents are at the opening right now, and i'm really hoping to pop in there during one of my next two visits to the area - i just need to stop forgetting to ask them for all the info. i've only met her once, and haven't seen any of her work yet, but as a 12 year old, i thought she was pretty cool (and thought her husband was hot, and was impressed by his work - he's a sculptor and taught at nyu at the time) and damnit, i think its really neat that my family still keeps in touch with my mom's piano teacher - i never had a big blood family, but the closeness of my family's friends is something that i've always really loved and appreciated.
