my evil twin is the daughter of my grandma's best friend.
she's my evil twin because for a long time, i followed in her footsteps, just four years behind, and looked a lot like her, only almost a foot shorter. i fell off her tracks around 17, at which point she kicked herself into high gear, excelled at school and sports, got into a good college and became a financial analyst. the last time we hung out, which was all too long ago, we joked about the differences in our lifestyles.
she's only four years older then me, but has always been closer to my mom, who always played the role of a cool older sister to her.
a year after getting out of college, she decided she didn't want to live in america, and worked her way into a position in london (which is where i got to spend time with her on my visit). she wasn't overly thrilled with the job, though, and, when it ended, ended up moving to switzerland to live with the guy she was dating, l.; she stayed there for a couple of years, and then went with him to south africa about 6 months ago.
while in south africa, she met someone else, left l., and is here visiting her family right now - trying to explain to her family why she made the decision she did, and eventually introduce the new guy - he flew in today.
l. had been calling her mom, begging her to ask k. to reconsider, asking her mom to make sure k. spends time talking to my mom, because he was sure my mom would give k. good advice (my mom met l. a few times during their visits to the states, and talks to k. regularly).
today, k.'s mom got a call from south africa. l. was in a car accident and died.
