i spent $200 at lunch yesterday. to show for it, i have new & balanced tires, a couple of items from the VS sale, and a couple of things for my costume, which might be contributing the the stomach ache i have right now.
i'm scared shitless of it flopping, because i'll give it an 80% chance that it will - i have never been good at making anything with my hands, and there's no reason for this to be an exception. moreover, the bodysuit i got it muchmuch more sheer then i thought it would be, which adds complications to something i already felt i was getting in too deep with.
i also need to go back to the mall and look for wings - i was very disapointed not to find any at claire's, and its too late to order a pair online.
if anyone happens to have a pair of purple wings they could loan me, i'd be totally grateful. in that vein, if anyone crafty-handed is willing to come over and supervise/assist a stressed yulia, i'd be very grateful for that, too.
after work, i touched the atlantic for the first time this year.
sol3 drove up here, we had a yummy dinner, and went to nantasket.
it was colder then i was hoping it would be, and the beach was all damp, which means i still haven't felt sand between my toes, but, i did take off my birks and splash my feet in a retreating wave - damn was it cold.
i'm really angsty over the forecast. i want my fucking summer!!!
when we got back, a game of uno with his roomates and catching up on two episodes of QaF finished off the really good evening.
today, i'm busy grumbling at the clouds outside.
tonight, i need to prioritize the shopping i need to do and go half of it, and tidying up the house would be good. after that, i might even make it out to the club.
i also finished the eyre affair on monday night, so now i get to pick my next book : )
i'm still annoyed that all my bday loot is going into my car (for the second year in a row). i'd love to say i could get fun toys with the next hanukah loot, but that will end up going towards my january travel plans. and while i really have nothing to complain about - the car needs to stay running well, and i'm lucky to be able to keep it that way without any extra stress-tummy-aches and the january trip will be entirely frivolous, i'm just starting to feel like kicking rocks over the fact that toys are low enough on my priority list to not get a portion of my budget.
i'll stop whining now.
i'm not happy about the fact that i'm getting stress-tummy-aches again - its been a little while, i enjoyed not having a stressful situation be punctuated by physical pain, but this morning, it kicked up seconds after i slammed on the breaks to avoid rearending a stupid driver and since then, it'll start calming down until i have a stress related thought, at which point it spikes back up. sometime in the next few days, i need to make buckwheat and restrict my diet to ulcer friendly foods.

Date: 2003-06-18 08:47 am (UTC)i'm sure any party store (Party City, Party Box) with a costume department can offer some help...
was the eyere affair any good? (i'm looking for my next book..)

Date: 2003-06-18 08:56 am (UTC)the eyre affair was a fun read, and had some neat ideas, but its definately fluff.
even along the lines of lighter reading, the right book still speaks to me, and nothing in this book really affected me that way.
if you haven't read any tom robbins yet, i can't recommend him enough. still life with woodpecker is the most fun/easy reading out of the ones i've read, and skinny legs and all has been the one that has struck me the most thus far; even cowgirls get the blues took some effort to get into, so i wouldn't recommend that as an introduction to him.

Date: 2003-06-18 11:14 am (UTC)the main character in the eyre affair is fairly normal and thinks in very conventional ways... the characters that aren't stereotypically normal are not given enough depth for their non-standardness to be anything other then quirks for the author to use in order to keep the story running.
the book also didn't present any major ideas i haven't encountered/thought about before, so all it had for me were minor ideas and good quotes.
have either of you read or seen pirandello's six characters looking for an author?
