i can only think of three things that were wrong about the weekend, and one of them is that it didn't last long enough.

i skipped out of work a little early on Friday and drove down to salem, where my grandparents were visiting my grandmother's cousin. my visit was a surprise to them, and it felt really good to be that welcomed.
i had a light dinner there, and tried very hard to not feel overwhelmed by the fussing that tends to hang around both my mother and grandmother; luckily, my grandfather's humor really breaks it up.

i left there a little early in hope of being able to do a movie at the kendall, but managed to miss my turn off of 107 and got really lost in chelsea and east boston, which meant that [livejournal.com profile] sol3 and i saw a late showing of charlie's angels at the commons - the movie was as light and fluffy as our evening needed.

we slept in on Friday, grabbed brunch with [livejournal.com profile] zerokey and drove down to NJ. overall, we just had a very pleasant, laid back and relaxing day.
Saturday, we slept in late and took even longer to get moving, had a scary brunch at a local diner, lazied around a bit more and drove into the city. there, we had all you can eat sushi (yum!), took nice strolls around the village (and did some really cool midnight shopping!), went to the korova milkbar (which was playing hip hop for some reason : / ) for really yummy and froofy drinks, and then to the remote lounge, which was both scary and entertaining,

by the time we were getting back home, the sky was turning brighter and brighter - which is one of the things i absolutely love about being out in NY - the city stays open and lives to late that sunrise really sneaks up on you.
Sunday, we slept in again, had a lazy morning, an "accident" with the dishwasher, saw cute deer and raccoons, had food at fuddruckers, and eventually drove back home. just a long, relaxed, laid back weekend of spending time together *purrs*

today, work is being light and i'm in a fairly good mood.
i have tentative plans tonight, and i'm resenting how tentative they are - i want definites. but, i won't cancel on this person myself, because i see them once every six months, tops, and i don't want to miss the chance to see them.

the hip hop itself was tolerable (as in, it wasn't making me cringe), but totally didn't fit with the decor of the place.
