Oct. 22nd, 2003 03:58 pmwaking up to leonard cohen stuck in my head, two mornings in a row... today it was famous blue raincoat
the first time the alarm rang, it was more of a reminder to sleep then a reminder to wake up - my dreams were so intense that i was in a state very close to waking, and was really happy to be woken up and get a chance to go into deep sleep, even if for a few minutes at a time.
the dream was about having been at a party, meeting two famous writers (both of whom are long dead IRL, but they were my age in the dream), finding out they were cousins who wrote under pseudonyms and being incredibly attracted to both of them - and being unable to decide which one of them to pursue. at the point when the alarm rang, i was "home" and frustrated that neither
kittypie or
tobi were on aim to offer advice.
class was ...class last night.
i don't like being there. i use the time to write in my school notebook and then try hard not to zone out whenever i am done. the way the professor leads the discussion doesn't do a thing for me.
he also took away our breaks, and hasn't given us back our papers. he assigns us 200 or so pages of reading per week, but has had 20 4-5 page papers for two weeks already - and our next paper is due in two more - only because i can't plan on doing homework on halloween weekend, i'll be writing my second paper before getting the first one back.
i got home to find an actual mattress on my bed (thank you
gaelen!!!), and spent some time in front of the tube before going to sleep - i didn't make it to bed before midnight, but before midnight thirty...
over the weekend, my mom told me i'm 'too old to dye my hair blue' after asking me some vague questions about whether i'd consider dying it. i'm loving the fact that she pursued the conversation herself and implied that there is an age when it is 'okay' to dye your hair blue - although i doubt debbie will see any of this (pseudo) open-mindedness.
speaking of debbie, she came up with a rare gem this weekend. she overslept going to shul on Saturday night, and was trying to insist on walking the mile and a half there alone, at around 9pm. when i told her that her options are staying home or being driven there by me, with a tone of exasperation, she said "but you don't understand! it'd... it'd be like driving to church!" *snark* because, you know, i go to church so often.
