cleaning/packing
Jan. 24th, 2004 07:23 pmfirst, a story in everything happens for the best:
after deciding that my winter coat is not in good enough shape to wear to
tobi's grandmother's service, i decide i need to splurge and have it dry cleaned.
so, i brought it into the office in order to use the cleaning service in the building next door.
then, i realized that if i give it to be cleaned this week, it is likely that it would need to be picked up next week, while i'm on vacation. to make sure i don't stray from my path, i decided to leave it in the office.
meanwhile, i've been wearing my sheep. because it is a damn nice/expensive coat, i've been avoiding wearing it to places that have unsecure coat storage, like ceremony and yoga.
when going to yoga this week, i grabbed the first of the 3 leather jackets on my coatrack that caught my eye. later that night, i was looking for my keys, went though all the pockets, and was amused to find the map of amsterdam.
today, after putting off grabbing my passport for well over a week, i go to the drawer i'd thought i 'd stuck it into when doing a major cleaning early in the fall - only to find it isn't there.
i then look at the place it used to be - and it isn't there either.
then, i look in a few other places and no dice.
then, i go looking through my folders in the computer room - because i can't fathom it being anywhere else - and not there either.
then, i remember finding the map, start breathing deeper and go to check the inside pocket of that jacket - BINGO!
now, if i hadn't worn that jacket, and found the map, i would have torn myself and the house into bits before thinking of checking there.
i also found the book i'd been upset at not being able to find last week and ten bucks in one of my skirts' pockets.
i realized that while it is great that my mother buys me lingerie, it also sucks because none of it is solid enough to be worn when sleeping in the same room with my grandparents! so, i'm taking the silk pants i'd bought for BM and the tank top from the velvet pajamas
sol3's sister gave me for xmas, really wishing i could find a lighter but still comfy tank top to sleep in. actually, scratch that, i found a random tank top i got from
cloeigrrl that'll do.
now, i'm fairly clothes-packed - just need to roundup all hairstuffs, makeup, sunscreen, bug spray, and figure out how much camerastuffs i need...
oh, and the dufflel bag's insides? coated with playa dust *smile*
