back when during my first years of college, z. made a comment that 'a c is a passing grade' and made it clear that he wasn't trying at school because they were too obvious about only caring about the money they were getting from him. at the time, i was a little taken aback - my school was obvious about wanting my money, but i wasn't going to let that stop me from being immersed in my classes.
now, it's 5 or so years later, and i'm at that fed up point. they keep raising tuition and fees and make the hoops harder to jump through. add to that that i need too many classes of just for elective credits and i'm just sick of it. i'm getting overly frustrated with all the bureaucracy whenever i have to deal with it and i'm not enjoying the schooling as much as i should. i resent how homework gets in the way of my pleasure reading, i resent the fact that i can't take some classes that i'd like to take for myself because the art classes offer for credits need too many blocked hours and i can't risk my gpa enough to take language classes.

i just signed up for summer classes, and on top of leaving me broke, the process has been as pleasant as having my teeth pulled out slowly and without anaesthetic and it's left me too disgusted with the process to throw myself into studying for the midterm. and yes, i know that breaking my nose to spite my face is never a bad idea, but i just don't have the motivation : /

maybe you should take a semester off? I know it pushes being done back, but the last time you took a semester off you were SOOOO happy and got lots done. It's counter productive to keep going if you're just going to hate it and thus not do well.

If you want to take a language class, take it from the Cambridge Center for Adult Education. They have some really good teachers, and they're pretty cheap. No, it won't be credits you can use for your degree, but I guarantee that you'll actually have fun in language classes at CCAE instead of the "college" ones where people are bored and doing it for the credit. And you might be able to convince a friend to do it with you!

theoretically, i should and i was going to up until i saw the summer schedule - stats is a class i'd been wanting to take, and it is one that work will pay for - but it's only offered second session, which is when i was going to take my break.
then, i noticed that the online classes span over both sessions, which gives me the chance to take an extra class without raising my workload horribly much if i take an easy first session class - with normal semesters, it takes me over 8 months to earn 9 credits, but this summer, i'll do it in 3.
then, i might take time off either in the fall or the spring.

and yes, i definately want to take a language course like that - i just don't think its feasable to do while i'm taking credit courses, and it'll be hard for me to jump into that before having finished my degree.
