It is something I should do more of, on quite a range of scale, and you seem good at it. The things you've done involving staying at hostels sounded particularly interesting. Also just wandering around pretty much anywhere on foot.

i've done suprisingly little walking this summer, and it didn't strike me until the night i spent 12:30am til sunrise walking around the playa, from one blinky thing to the next - and now that i've remembered how much i love walking, i'm going to try doing more of it before it gets too cold.
(the last major walking excursion before then was during k's visit, when we walked from my house to brunch on newbury st, then over the commons, past downtown crossing, past south station, to the harbor and then back to chinatown to catch the T and even that was great, even if we did somehow miss copley)
