elvendollbeing effectively home alone on a Friday night feels weird. not bad, but weird.
and yeah, i'm down in jersey. on the drive home from work on Thursday i noted how cleaned up the highway was and decided to change my mind about having cancelled the visit. so far, i think i made the right choice. especially considering that it seems that i've picked up pink eye from my boss and my mom is very effective at (a) getting me to a dr, stat and (b) administering the drops. luckily, i have it so mild that you can't see it already, but i'll continue on with the drops.
of course, i complain about having no free time at home, and tonight, i might just go to sleep early instead of doing any of the things i could be doing to make me feel better tomorrow.
minus the pink eye and the too-long dr's visit, i've been having a decent time here. dinner with all the grandparents wasn't incredibly stressful, no political discussions happened and debbie and i played a good game of scrabble after the grandparents left.
also, there's an incredibly cute flying squirrel here. he used to live in the attic, until one of his brethren found his way into my parent's bedroom - at which point, my stepdad went on a squirrel-gathering mission. unfortunately, they didn't look up feeding info quickly enough, and fed the first two almonds before finding out those are poisonous to them : / the third one is cute as a button, of not hand-trained yet, and if anyone would want his as a pet, i could bring him on my way down.
and, i'm thinking i want to go out tomorrow night. NYC folks, wanna see me?
