Feb. 1st, 2005 02:17 pmi'm really glad i'd uncanceled last weekend's trip.
it was good to get away, it was good to be pampered like that for a week and i got to spend some quality time with both my sisters and my parents.
it's weird to see debbie growing up. she's much more responsible now then she used to be, and i'm actually enjoying interacting with her. it's still amazing how abi accepts me as a part of the family; when she was feeling shy around a group of family friends, she curled up in my lap, even though, odds are, she's spent more time around them during her lifetime then around me.
i got to feel like a bit of a little kid on Saturday night, too, when i was first flirted with by a 15 year old, and then got to come home and brag to debbie and two of her friends about it - damn, would i not mind retreating to that carefree life for a bit.
i used the ice skates i bought 2 years ago for the first time on Sunday. we were skating on a pond, so the ice wasn't as smooth as it would be at a rink, and i think i did okay, as did the skates - the right foot is a bit awkward, but i'm thinking the previous owner must've just warped that boot a bit and if i concentrate on keeping my foot straight over the blade, it should undo the damage with time.
it was also great to see (and sometimes butt into) a hockey game between 4 pre-teens and my stepdad and a family friend. the parents-team didn't even have hockey sticks, and still kicked the kids' butts.
on Saturday night, driving to the sushi place, my front left wheel started making an odd noise - like something was stuck there. i looked under it when we got to the restaurant, and didn't see a thing. on Sunday, i asked my stepdad to take a look at it, and he didn't see anything either, so i asked him to drive my car to ice skating, so he could figure out what the issue is. long story short, my lug nuts were loose. i'm feeling incredibly lucky that this happened while i was in jersey, and that my stepdad is the kind of person to stop everything and start taking my car apart when there's a problem.
last night, i had dinner and caught up with
autumnsshadow, came home, did taxes and didn't do anywhere near enough cleaning, as i've been coming home for long enough to make a mess and then leave it for over a week now, and then went out to ceremony. when i was driving there, it felt like one of those ideas that sounded good at the start and that i was following through on out of sheer stubbornness, as i was feeling pretty tired and worn out. but i ended up having good time at the club and then got
pir-snuggles to boot.
tonight, i have class and then
sol3-time, and tomorrow will be similar, just substitute yoga for class. this means that cleaning is postponed till Thursday night, which was set aside for homework, and i'm rather curious how much of either i'll get done.
it feels like time is rushing by - and right now, i'm kind of glad for it - i wouldn't mind spring being here in two more blinks.
i'm also totally travel-minded again, but don't have time to do serious research, which is leading to me being very scattered.
