it was the very end of my first semester at UMB. i was living in brighton and had two commute options - the bus and train, using a prepaid T pass, which took an hour and a half, or driving my car for all of 20-30 minutes and paying 3.50 for parking. i was a poor college student, and took the bus in on most days, but for my very last, and early morning, final i decided to treat myself and drive in.
the final was scheduled for either 9 or 9:30am, and i gave myself just enough time to get up, quickly eat and shower and drive in.
i woke up, and saw white outside - and lots of it - i think there was at least 6-8 inches on the ground. i checked the school site to see if campus closed, with the frantic realization that i wouldn't have time to take the T even if i did skip eating and showering and saw that school was still open.
so, i ate quickly and got on the road. and got to the final early - within 20 minutes of leaving the house, in fact, and with the easiest commute i'd had the entire semester.
i think that was my first time driving through that much fresh snow, and it definitely left a pleasant impression.

it's supposed to snow tonight, and i doubt class will be cancelled. i'm hoping we'll be let out early, but mostly, i'm hoping to get to drive through fresh snow on fairly deserted roads.

(and i'll skip over the story of driving my little maxima 50+mph during a blizzard and hydroplaning in the slush between lanes to pass other cars either a month before or a month after then)

You know, I usually enjoy a leisurely drive in the snow, but driving down route 3 and 95 this evening was not fun. :) Far too much traffic, and much too snowy/windy. I hope your snowbound commute was more enjoyable!
