here's a quick recap of the past week:
last Friday night i spent most of the evening doing some much-needed sewing up of a couple of skirts and a shirt. of course, it wasn't till this morning that i remembered that my black cargo pants need a button reattached. phooey. after that, i ended up going to manray, and had a very good time. the club was full of people i didn't know, but despite the low signal to noise ratio, i was really liking the fact that the club was full, and spending time with the people i did know.
Saturday i woke up somewhat on time, but decided to skip yoga anyway, as going would've made getting ready for the afternoon more time-crunchy then i wanted it to be. so, i had a lazy breakfast, a long shower, took my time picking an outfit and actually left the house on time.
the wedding was great, and it made me really happy to see some of the NYC folks that came out. between them and who the rest of the guests were, i was left with a huge longing for burning man, to just find myself at camp, maybe in the ambient dome (hi
cuthalion!), surrounded both by burning man and igs folks.
my body reacted poorly to something i ate, which lead to me being much less social for the party, but didn't cut into my enjoyment of it - it felt so good to be surrounded by the people who were there, that i was very content to just sit there and bask in the vibes while the party was more active around me.
Sunday started with a yummy & good brunch, and then
sol3 and
goat convinced me that, despite not being totally dressed for it, i should go to silks. and i'm glad i went, though in the future, i would prefer to be told if there's a huge hole on the ass of my pants.
when
goat and i got home from silks, we meant to be productive and clean, but ended up doing a bunch of vegging before carnivale. mmmm.... carnivale....
monday night included a group effort with
goat and
sol3 to make dinner - which had a couple of kinks, but left everyone full, i think, and i definately enjoyed the company.
tuesday night my class was cancelled, so i was able to make it out to the boston burners meet & greet (though didn't manage to meet the people there that i didn't already know) and then went to singularity, which is a cool night, but ended up being weird for internal and external reasons.
wednesday night was yoga, and c. did a more traditional astanga class - which i didn't dislike, but didn't like as much as the usual shtick. for one, he'd take us through the sun salutations really slowly at first, and i had a hard time adjusting to the slower pace, and then to the speeding up. one of the things i like about yoga is also that there's less repetition - i prefer to do something intense once then to do something less strenuous a few times, and the more traditional class had more of the latter. i was surprised by how much my hamstrings are stretching out, though - when i first started doing yoga, touching my knees hurt. now, even though it hurts, i can grab the outside of my feet when sitting down.
yesterday, i spent half the day working from home, was finally able to get some people together at my house for lunch, and then went to two dr's appointments. the first was an optometrist, and i'm not wearing contacts. i'm definately still adjusting, but i'm also worried that the prescription on my left eye isn't a good match - that eye on it's own is blurry, and my vision overall gets blurry when i focus on details that are up close, while things on the horizonal look better then they ever did. i'm going to give the blurryness another day and then give the dr. a call. the second visit was to a girly dr., and i'm not sure whether i should be surprised that i was discouraged from getting an iud. the flipside of that is that they require a counseling appointment before the procedure, so i have more time to think about it.
and, it's friday! a sunny friday before the start of a busy weekend! *bounce*
