weird ageism - there's a few people that are family or family friends that are about 5 years younger then my mom. because my memories of them start from then i was 5 and they were 20, i perpetually think of them as 'young adults' and can't compute that they're 40 now - i just can't picture them aging past 30.

anger management issues? - when i was 7 or 8, the sound of the piano being played* drove me batty - totally spiked an anger response. i must've spent hours daydreaming about finding an axe and tearing it to shreds. once, when i was left home alone, i went looking through all the closets for an axe. i don't know how lucky i am that i never found one, because i probably would have chopped up the piano.
now, i know better then to act on anger like that, but my god - the desire to do serious damage to the air vents here feels very much the same way.

i'm so ready for it to be the weekend.

* my grandmother was a professional piano player, and whenever she wasn't sleeping, cooking or cleaning, she was practicing. and sometimes when she was cooking or cleaning, my great-grandmother was giving piano lessons

Open the vents and tape cardboard over the inside of them ? This is something I've been involved in in the past, and it worked out well.

Apropos of strange piano art, there was an exhibit at the tate modern awhile ago that consisted of a grand piano dangling upside down from the ceiling. Every n minutes it would fall several feet, the lid would open, the keys would fall partway off, and it would make a lot of noise, and then hang there for a bit before resetting itself and doing it again.
