May. 19th, 2005 02:18 pmwhen getting my contacts, the doc told me that yes, if i put the wrong contacts in the wrong eyes, i will know it. today, i found out that this is, indeed, the case. not the best time for it, but it is comforting knowledge. next up would be predictable judging whether the darn things are inside out or not.
i never learned my right & left when i was a kid and never could get it without thinking for 2 minutes or so before i started driving. now, all i have to do is picture myself in the car, and i know which side is right and which is left. yoga was helping for a while, but unfortunately, my instructor seems to have almost as much problem with it as i do, and second guessing him gets in the way of forming muscle memory.
now, the problem with visualing myself in a car first thing in the morning is that sometimes, i get them wrong - because somehow, to me, since the driver is in control, the driver should be 'right' - and that's what led to my wrong choice this morning.
i went to yoga last night and it didn't kick my ass as much as i thought it would. unfortunately, i think it's because the instructor avoided having us do lunges out of consideration for my toe - instead, we did a bunch of binds, which tend to come fairly easy to me and don't feel like work. the outsides of my thighs are sore this morning, and i think i know which set of poses caused that.
at silks on monday, i needed help to do this, but got further in the steps to get there then i could the week before. i also got some advice for getting my ass over my head, but don't seem to have the core or arm strength to get there yet. i really enjoyed doing this - i had the grip wrong at first, stood back up, grabbed the silks in the right place and just let my body swing out.
somewhere between being rather busy and watching too much tv when i'm home, i've felt like i haven't had any time to do the little things that piece my life together - like making plans for my time in austin, sending out/replying to emails, etc.

Date: 2005-05-19 06:37 pm (UTC)When I put in contacts, I put the container with the left one on the left side of the sink and the right one on the right side. You'll know if you put one in inside out because it will feel wrong and probably fall out. :)

That is a very pretty move on the silks BTW! Is that you?

that's a good idea!
sadly, mine don't pop out. they feel mildly irritated - enough to be bothersome but not so much that it feels like more then having dry eyes. the first time i did it, the doctor was the one that noticed and told me what i'd done; the second time, i had both contacts in inside out for a whole day, thinking i might be getting allergies.

Date: 2005-05-20 12:06 am (UTC)i have a really hard time taking contacts out because of my nails, and one of the hardest things about dealing with putting contacts in inside out is knowing that i have to take them out before it starts to feel better.
