i'm so behind where i should be, on so many levels.

i wasn't proactive about flipside stuff, and i hope that won't kick me in the ass.
i haven't heard back from k.'s friend that we're meeting at the airport yet, and am trying not to worry about that.
i'm supposed to be all packed already and i'm not - i'm hoping an hour at home before the evening plans is enough to fix that.

i'm in a weird place at work - my daily client has been quieter then usual, which has allowed me to stay closer to the track with the other ones, but i still don't feel like i'm doing enough, and there's a very definite 'waiting for the other shoe to drop' feeling to it all.

once i get back, i need to get serious about moving-planning. my head has been spinning on the stuff for weeks, and i'm nervous about getting the ball rolling.

How did the trailer work out?
see, ball rolling =P
and you have the swap thing scheduled, so ball rolling faster. YOu are well on your way to getting rid of stuff, moving the stuff you have, and figuring out the living/working situation once you get there. I think you have things fairly under control amd aren't my thoughts the most important there are? /facetious

=P

i cancelled the appointment to look at the trailer; between the low possibility of it having enough room and not having done enough legwork to secure a storage place on top of having doubts of having time to give it the TLC it needed, it wasn't worth it.
i'm keeping an eye on CL and debating my options - [livejournal.com profile] sol3 is trying to convince me to move by fedex!

the swap is definately on, and i'll need to write up a blurb about my housing needs when i get back - if i can secure housing by the end of july, i'll be a happy camper.

for me, thinking about doing something and actually doing it are very different, as i can cycle in the former for so long that i miss the opportunity to do, so until i'm doing more, i'll keep feeling like this.
thank you for the support, though : )

Ahh, I'm much like that, myself. Sometimes so much so that I do things rashly because I need they need to be done NOW. Low impulse control combined with huge procrastination.

All viable reasons for not getting the trailer. Maybe something else will come up. Heh. Fedex. That would be funny. Expensive, but funny. Funny, because I did that with alot of stuff when I moved from Oregon. After my initial two duffelbags that I got on the plane with, I shipped various boxes via fedex ground. horrible horrible experience though. The boxes came through tattered, battered, ruined, and much of the stuff inside I had to throwa way. Forutnately, I insured the boxes.

Kick ass about the swap. I'll be bringing pics of the things too large to carry over. I have an entire set of stoneware and a set of china. I'm debating getting rid of both and just buying uber simple black-white plates from crate and barrel or at the chinese/korean market next door to work. Getting tired of having "stuff"

Housing: Well, there is always hostels =P I used to surf hostels up and down the coast of Cali (only in large cities, i wish there were more of them) and did the sleep on the beach thing for a month with a couple friends. Was fun.

Well, if you need a kick in the pants/skirt/tight, lmk =D
Gees. I'm going to miss ya babe.

How did getting insurance $$ from FedEx work out?

& I'm really hoping to find a stable spot to stay for a month or four while I'm getting my bearings - someplace where I could spend hours of the day either working from home or job-searching and actually be able to concentrate.

& thank you for the kicking offer - with all luck, I won't need to take you up on that ; )

Weird - I've moved by UPS ground about a half dozen times, and never had any problems - (and even doubly surprised that you had issues with fedex - they have a damage claim policy with employees that basically means if they pay out on insurance, every employee who touched the box gets dinged for it - and they've got the tracking to know that :)

Still trying to decide how i'm going to do my move - it's not entirely improbable that i will have a place lined up before i get out there - which brings up the moving by box option. Then again, all I will be moving is my clothes and my books and some kitchen stuff. My computer/music equipment will be coming with me in the car. The rest is getting sold/given away. (mmmm, going into a loft live/work with nearly nothing.... talk about a fresh start!)

Getting insurance money==PITA. This was about 4 years ago, perhaps before the new policy?

Ahh, I flew out from oregon, that whole not driving thing =P I do indeed like the fresh start thing, the lack of stuff, the ...emptiness...bit. I'm hoping, post swap, to toss the rest of stuff on craiglist or ebay or somewhat and maybe trade out my (very comfy) bed for a futon set up. A nice desk to work from, maybe a drafting table. Simple things like that. Depends on how the living situations pan out and all for me as well.

Mm, change. I like change.

There was this moment when I was buying my ticket to japan for september where I almost clicked "one way"

It's a four poster white washed wood frame with box spring and mattress. Boxspring and mattress are less than 2 years old. Unfort, it is only Full sized, not queen. I would like something a bit larger (do they make queen futons?) I thought about doing what a friend of mine did and get two tatami mats and a futon mattress. Is amazingly comfortable.

Heh. Maybe I should do the pic thing of it as well and bring it to the swap =P
