in my infinite wisdom, i made it so that all my upcoming travel plans are now at varying degrees of up in the air. is it any surprise that i'm all kinds of twitchy and ungrounded today?

and, to lower the percentage of whine, tell me what you think:
it doesn't look like i'll get my new car before the trip to socal, which is a 7 hour drive, which is making me reconsider flying.
flying will cost as much as gas to get there and back, and has the added bonus of frequent flier miles.
but, i tend to get twitchy when i don't have my own set of wheels. [livejournal.com profile] kittypie can loan me hers, but it'd be different.
should i find a way to rig up audio into my car and drive it, or fly?

edit: well, i think i've pieced it together - after friday night, i'm feeling really twitchy about spending blocks of time in the car. i'm sure i'll get over it, but for now, flying might be the best solution.

That is what I would do. If there is a way to get out of being twitchy that doesn't involve the annoyance of flying, it's usually the path I take. And I *totally* understand wanting to have your own wheels.

I also vote for audio in the car! Wheels that are yours are good. =)

[livejournal.com profile] dilletante and I drive to the DC area on a semi-regular basis, rather than flying. But then, I like going on road trips with him, because he reads to me, and we generally have lots of fun. So I guess the question for me is -- do you *like* doing that much driving?

I think I just figured out a part of it - I was looking forward to the drive before, but after Friday night, the idea of being in my car for that long is twitch-inducing. Hrmm.

Hrmm indeed. I think if I were in your position, I'd fly and bring a book and a walkman, and wait to do a drive like that until I was sure that audio would be available in the car AND until the idea of driving that long didn't make me twitch.

I'd fly, but then, I've been pretty careful about taking my car on long-distance, short-duration trips: much faster wear and tear, and I'm not sure when we can replace the car altogether. Plus, flying affords other niceities like quiet time with a book. :)

i still say fly - since we have 2 cars @ our disposal (incl. my mom's) it REALLY won't be a problem for you to borrow mine. if you need to get away from me on the weekend i could always use erik too :)
