Oct. 19th, 2005 01:18 amI flew today!
I'm now in San Diego, visiting
kittypie - I'll be working as usual during the day, and get to spend time with her (and other SoCal people) at night and over the weekend!
I'm also not officially done with my class until the paper thing* is sorted out, but I've felt a ton better since getting the final done. I did so much schoolwork between Thursday and Saturday night that when I was out on Monday night, it felt like BaGG must've been two days previous, not five.
But yeah, feeling better.
Sadly, my period attacks whenever I'm about to fly, and this time was no exception. It started off with PMSing and cramps on Sunday - enough so that I was worried that I wouldn't be up for the day's plans, while also grateful that neither hit while I was in school-mode. But, a nice brunch at Can't Fail did a lot bring me back up and
sol3 headed into the city.
We parked on Lincoln by 10th and biked a few zigzags around GG park, and then headed over to Ocean Beach. I never thought I'd hear myself say "I guess I'm spoiled by Central Park", but I did - not having clear paths through the park spiked my stress levels a bit during the first hour. Somewhere between finding less populated paths and getting more comfortable riding, I mellowed out enough to be really enjoying it, and absolutely loved biking to the beach, getting my boots off and spending some time by the water.
The ride back was rough - I actually didn't think I could make it, but ended up pushing through.
Apparently, I'm a freak of nature. Apparently, when other people use their muscles too much, their muscles hurt - like, right then and there. My muscles? they go numb and limp. I don't feel pain, I just lose the ability to do whatever it is I'm doing. Thinking back on it, it was probably an issue at silks, too - there were several times I was reaching that point, would say something and was told something along the lines of 'keep trying'. With the way my muscles go numb and limp, keeping at it really isn't an option. The next question is whether I'll see a doctor about this.
After the ride, we popped over to
cuthalion's for some great grilled cheese sandwiches, and eventually dragged him along to see Good Night and Good Luck. The movie was fairly relevant to things covered in the class I've been finishing up, so it made one hell of an impression on me. I'm curious how I would've reacted to it if I hadn't taken the class, but am recommending it to all of you anyway.
Yesterday,
sol3 and I had a great date-ish night. I noticed that one of the ex-cocteau twins was playing, and he picked out a great thai place nearby, and we did dinner, show and club. Despite starting our evening a bit behind schedule, something about the restaurant made me feel so at ease that I had a full three course meal - my first in ages, I hardly ever get appetizers and rarely initiate getting dessert. The show was slightly more mellow then I expected at first, but I really enjoyed Halou's set. The music between sets was... well, not entirely unlike nails on chalkboard and the main act was just more mellow then I could handle.
sol3 compared it to edward ka-spel's solo show, but I thought it was significantly more mellow then that. From there, we went to Death Guild, which was a good time made totally better by watching
sol3 squirm. It's still a bit weird not to know a lot of people, but it was really good to run into
kryscat and a couple people I'd met through her.
Today, workwise, sucked big noogies. But, I'm in San Diego now, so it's bound to be all good, right?

Date: 2005-10-20 07:48 am (UTC)Funny, so busy working on other costumes that I don't have time for Halloween! It's not too hard to come up with stuff by just raiding my closet though :)

Date: 2005-10-20 07:51 am (UTC)Oh, and did you and [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] want to check out the Halloween Gaskells ball? It's a different sort of thing from the run of clubs and parties that happen around Halloween. Kindof stands out for it. SInce I'm in the Castro, I may make that a Halloween meeting spot though :) I missed the Castro on Halloween last year (too tired after a week and a half of 1-3 parties/events a night!), and I don't intend to miss it this year.

After hosting Halloween parties for the last, umm, 4? years, having to find Halloween plans is a bit new to me...
