I laid down on top of him on the cordaroy, and he dosed off.
A few minutes later, I realized that it's prolly time for him to start getting ready.
me: is it time for you to go shower?
[livejournal.com profile] sol3 shakes his head no.
me: well, it's just about 2:30, and we want to be there by 3:30 and it takes about a half hour to get there. do you still want to be there by 3:30?
[livejournal.com profile] sol3 shakes his head yes
me: can you shower later and still be ready by then?
[livejournal.com profile] sol3: yes, the spinning monkeys will make it happen.
me: what color are the spinning monkeys?
[livejournal.com profile] sol3: spinning, duh!
[livejournal.com profile] sol3: mumblemumblemublespinningmonkeys
[livejournal.com profile] sol3: mumblemumblemublespinningmonkeys?
I stay silent.
[livejournal.com profile] sol3 wakes up with a start and doesn't remember a thing about spinning monkeys.

Rather, what you report that he mumbled is a variant of a reiterated conversation from a novel or movie that has appeared commonly as a conversation bit. That sequence used to appear often.

i'm curious what movie/novel - as it's not an exchange I remember seeing anywhere (then again, I don't recall the exchange she posted about here, so...) Needless to say, it isn't something that's appeared commonly in my paths of conversation.

I'm not sure. My guess would be it was from either Douglas Adams or Tom Robbins, but this is probably wrong, as it's too small for either. I think it is terribly amusing that Yulia banned me from commenting in her journal on this, as we seemed on very good terms the last few times we spoke.
