need to rant...
Feb. 7th, 2001 09:56 amso i was working from home yesterday. when i was trying to call here to make sure thats ok/let people know, my boss wasn't here & i talked to my beloved cow-orker from the cube next to me. i should have known better, but i asked if he could forward me the zip file with stuff i tookt o my parents' house. he couldn't find it. ok, so i asked for the outlook settings files. i asked he send it from his machine, but he said he's already at mine. and it wouldn't come through. i asked himt o double check he's doing a send & not a send and recieve (as its going to the same addy it was coming from) and he said thats fine. he was definately here long enough to have seen the messages coming back in, because, as i found out today, i forgot to turn my mail proggie off from checking mail every 2 mins. well, not only did he 'not notice' that, but he left it running all day! so the majority of my, and general tech support, mail from yesterday has been sitting & stewing in my inbox.
wtf?!
if i honestly thought there was a chance of him having really not noticed it'd be one thing. but i just can't imagine that being the case. this is the second pseudo-subvertive thign he's done now & i feel like ass needing to watch my back that badly : /
and to top it off, he's not getting the phones. i've got a full box & other things to do, and yet when it rings 3 times, i get it. i don't understand why he doesn't. *raar*

Mistakes happen. Please let Rythter (J.) know the situation and get help catching up on the backlog if you need it.
There shouldn't be a need for CYA. It's a loose unstructured work environment and things go crazy. I look at it as an honest mistake. See Owen's comment for a discussion about what happens when people make mistakes. :-)
As for your problem with your cube-neighbor, that's something you can talk to Rythter about as well. I always prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt; perhaps he was just careless. In which case he should be explicitly told the problem so he doesn't repeat it. Or ignore this advice if I've mistaken the need to kvetch for a request to take action, in which case I'll simply say I heard you and I'll keep an eye out to see how things develop.

P.S. We have a whole conversation at Wendy's about LJ a few weeks ago and you don't even mention you use it? When you have your picture on yours?! (The next morning after our Wendy's LJ discussion I heard a woman on the radio mention LJ. Too weird, as I was flipping through stations and just caught the one sentence, where she said she heard about an album from a friend's LJ.)
P.P.S. I clicked on elvendoll on a userinfo page because I had a girlfriend I called elfmaid. You're not her. Oh, well. I'll have to tell her about this; she'll love it.

Date: 2001-02-08 03:50 pm (UTC)& i didn' say anything at the wendy's outing because i prefer to keep my work & personal lives separate... which is not to say i mind work people reading this, but am paranoid it would not be taken for what it is - my personal journal/forum.... where i may be less then collected or professional, and where i am definately vulnerable.
as for the above rant.. it was mostly kvetching... when it comes to people, i tend to have this weird mix of sticking by my convictions when it somes to my own beliefs, and realizing how fallable they may be when it comes to sharing them. i may not like the boy's style very much, but that is my personal opinion.
as for my name... i was a struggling little netperson without a nic that i liked for a very long time... i usually went by 'yulip', which is a nickname someonein highschool gave me.. but i never liked the sound of it... then an x of mine (heh... not you.) told me i am elf-like, and i decided to use that as a starting point, as elf by itself is just way too common. the doll came from the fact that i often like to play at life/social situations and from the way the chick of Flowers in the Attic (a book that struck me at the ripe age of 12) wanted to take that as her last name. i'm still not sure how much i like the nic, and how permanent its going to be.. but thats what it is for now : )
ps. this picture would be more ninja, huh?

Don't worry about that. You should see what Volve has called me in his journal. Actually it was more of an insult to my mother. Ouch.

He's less geek than most of the rest of us on this side of the business, which might explain why he doesn't fit in as well, and he is interested in moving to the marketing side after four more months (the dark side). So you don't have to look at him as a permanent neighbor. In his defense, his job before Streamline.com was helping autistic children. I really admire that.

I really like 'yulip'. It suggests "Yulia+tulip".
Always feel free to talk to us about anything in the office.
And you don't have to Alt-Tab away from LJ when I walk by. You're too slow anyway. :-)
