oh what a day....
Apr. 2nd, 2001 11:48 pmafter the initial flip out (which started during the last entry and lasted a couple of hours) i've actually been coasting through the day on a rather fucked up numb.
basically, i found out in a nice timely fashion that we as a house are $2,000 in the whole as far as bills go, and some stuff about to be shut off. a good portion of that should have been paid off months ago, but the checks were never sent, and the story goes from there.
of course, my first impulse is to panic. i try to horde money away, both for things i'm saving up for, and for cases of emergency. only there was an emergency last week that ate up most of those resources. so having another emergency and not enough resources to know in the back of my head i can float the situation was gnawing at me.
as was the fact that i had an uncashed check sitting on my desk, and the fact that i needed to make sure that the checks had just not been sent out, rather then cashed and not accounted for. which required much prior-to-5 attention span. argh. i really hate skipping out on work, but at that point trying to keep focussed was a joke anyways : /
drove home like a bat outta hell to make the trip to the bank. deposited 1 check, and lost one debit card. turns out my other bank didn't get my pin right, and i forgot about the 3 tries think. doh. luckily i still have checks from that account.
so after some stressing and phone haggling, max came home, and after a bit of putzing about (as is bound to happen here) we got most of the bills figured out. lemme tell you.. such the pain in the ass! of course missing 1 month of long distance sheets doesn't help one bit...
and of course amidst all that came the most amusing part of my day. the upstairs neighbor decided to 'confront' me on our housing situation. *shakes head* i gotta say its the lowest i've stooped in a while - but was really fun in that 'i loosening most self-restraint' kind of way - definitely at least a few years gone by since something like this has happened. i'd almost be tempted to post the conversation for amusement value if i wasn't against that type of thing...
but on a more pleasant note... scuba & lyzz dropped by today : ) they didn't stay nearly long enough, but it was really good to see them : ) hopefully, with spring on the way, social shtuffs will start popping up more often : )
and now i am here, kinda on the sleepy side...
i'm very amused by the fact that the cat has decided that the left side of my desk is 'her spot'. she will know knock stuff over and go as far as laying on computer cards in the spot, just to be there. also amuses me that she only goes here while i'm at the computer - makes me feel special : )
harumph. i have lots more to write about, but i just got wicked sleepy. which means my tone would be utterly ruined. and thoughts would be disconnected. later, i guess....

Date: 2001-04-02 09:03 pm (UTC)to quote you "things will work out ok, because they have to"
i liked that quote a lot and use it frequently.
dont worry about stupid silly people. they really don't matter very much anyway. people just like to do stuff like that when they dont have anything better to do except for get involved in places they don't belong.
*hugs* but try not to stress out too much. things will work out.

Date: 2001-04-03 06:59 pm (UTC)& heh.. i have this odd sense of financial intuition - i have never 'balanced my checkbook' or took notes of how much i spend where - somehow, in my head, there floats this approximate figure of how much i have, and if i think something may be pushing my bank account close, i double check the balance... unfortunately this applies only to once the money is spent... my biggest downfall is snail mail. bills that can be paid online are never late... those that need to be mailed out? well... lets just say its a huge sigh of relief for me when another roomate volunteers to cover that part - kinda sucky that it backfired on me this time though : (
