bleagh.
so today, reality sank in a bit.
my stepdad called his saab/volvo mechanic, who told him that, chances are, the damages done to my car are not worth repairing.
i really don't know how to feel about that, but more on that later.
the thing is, the place i am currently awaiting an estimate from keeps pushing back when i am going to get it.
and i feel really shitty not going into work, but if i don't want them to make repairs on it, i need to get the car out ASAP to avoid racking up (any more) storage charges. suck.
a part of me still hopes the damage was minimal.
a part of me is hoping i get to have a new(er) car.
either way, at this point, i am fuct.
in terms of getting a new(er) car, my grandparents have agreed to loan me the money for one, i'll just have to make nicely sized monthly payments. overall, i am incredibly grateful for how supportive they're being though...
my stepdad is checking into a couple of leads for said new(er) car, and also on getting me a loaner car from friends for the meanwhile - if that comes through, i'll be bussing it to NJ tomorrow night.
its just so fucking screwed up that within months of finding respect for the car i used to loathe, the car goes and totals itself! and in such an insulting manner, too!
in the meanwhile, i am trying to find a site that lists cars for sale locally by owner. and failing. even boston.com only lists dealerships!
*sigh*
also gotta call AAA to see if i can get the towing charge refunded, as the fire department called for the tow before i had a chance to tell them i have AAA.
fun.
on a more pleasant note, though, once i had a drink+ in me, and was able to move past the car fiasco, i had a good time at MR last night : ) thank you to everyone who gave me hugs & good wishes!

Date: 2001-08-30 12:40 pm (UTC)also, if your parents have good credit and would sign for you, or if your credit is good enough, you could probably get a decent car loan.
as far as cars for sale by owner, maybe try checking the paper.
*hugs* good luck
